Baypointe Hospital & Medical Center was conceptualized when the local medical practitioners in the area saw the need to set up a state of the art medical facility to service the existing community and locators in the Subic Bay Freeport Zone and the local population of the neighboring towns of Zambales. They also wanted to take advantage of the growing tourist industry of Subic and thus envisioned a facility that will also cater to the retirement and medical tourism market. The Proponents of Baypointe are a diverse group of 40 founders composed of established medical specialist and hospital administrators (this group comprising 83%) from prominent hospitals in Manila and Olongapo City, and management professionals and entrepreneurs (this group comprising 17% ).

Ablang, Alberto Mariano J. M.D., DPPS, DSPCCMP -

Filipino, born in 1970, a Founder of BHMC. He is currently affiliated with the following hospitals: in Olongapo City: James Gordon Memorial Hospital; St. Jude's Family Hospital; TLC Medical Center; Mother & Child Hospital; Subic Bay Medical Center & University of Santo Tomas Hospital in Manila.

Dr. Ablang graduated from the De La Salle University with a Degree in Medicine in 1994 after he finished his Pre-medicine at the University of Santo Tomas in 1990. He completed his internship at the Makati Medical Center in 1995, his Residency in Pediatrics at the Makati Medical Center and his Clinical Fellowship in Pediatrics Critical Care Medicine from 2002 to 2003 at the University of Santo Tomas Hospital and at the Children's Memorial Hospital in Chicago, Illinois in 2003.

Ablang, Marietta Fanto, M.D., FPCP, FPCC -

Filipino, born in 1970, a Founder of BHMC. She is currently affiliated with the following hospitals: in Olongapo City: James Gordon Memorial Hospital; St. Jude's Family Hospital; TLC Medical Center and Mother & Child Hospital. She is likewise a member of the following medical organization: Diplomatic & Fellow: Philippine College of Cardiology; Diplomatic Fellow: Philippine College of Physicians; Philippine Society of Echocardiography; Philippine Medical Association; Olongapo City Medical Society.

Dra. Ablang completed her Research Fellowship in Echocardiography from Jan. 2004 to February 2005 at the Heart Institute of the St. Luke's Medical Center and her Clinical Fellowship in Adult Cardiology from Jan. 2001 to Dec. 2003 also at the St. Luke's Medical Center. She obtained her certification from the Physician Licensure Examination, Aug. 2005; Diplomate Examination of the Philippine College of Physician, Jan. 2003 & Diplomate Examination of the Philippine College of Cardiology, March 2004.

Bongco, Edgardo R., M.D., FAFNI -

Filipino, born in 1968, a Founder and Member of the Board of Directors of BHMC. He is also Chairman of the Credential Committee. He has a clinic at #2242 Rizal Avenue East Bajac, Bajac, Olongapo City. He finished both his Pre-medicine (1989) and Medical Education (1993) at the University of Santo Tomas. Dr. Bongco completed his Post Graduate Internship , Residency and Neurosurgery at the University of Santo Tomas Hospital from 1995 to 2001. He is a Diplomate of the Philippine Board of Neurological Surgery and Fellow at the Academy of Filipino Neurological Surgeons, Inc.

Bongco, Rosario R., M.D. -

Filipino, born in 1967, a Founder of BHMC. Presently she is Consultant to the following hospitals: James L. Gordon Memorial Hospital and Total Life Care Medical Center both in Olongapo City and Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Medical Center in San Fernando , Pampanga.

Dra. Bongco finished her Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology in 1988 at the University of Santo Tomas and her Degree of Medicine also from UST in 1992. She completed her Post Graduate Training as follows: from March 2001 to March 2003, Fellowships in Endocrinology at the National University Hospital in Singapore; from Jan. 2000 to Dec. 2000 Fellowship in Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism at UST; from Jan. 1996 to Dec. 1998 Residency in Internal Medicine at the Philippine General Hospital; and from May 1992 to April 1993 Post Graduate Rotating Internship at the Jose R. Reyes Memorial Medical Center, Manila, where she was awarded Outstanding Intern. She likewise passed the following certifying exams: Philippine Medical Board Exam in 1994; United States Medical Licensure Exam Steps 1 and 2; and the Philippine College of Physicians (Internal Medicine). She is a diplomate and fellow of the Philippine College of Physician.

De Castro, Ma.Gloria T.,M.D. -

Filipino, a Founder of BHMC. She is in private practice at the Olongapo OB-GYN Ultrasound Clinic since 1992 and has been a Consultant at the Worldciti Medical Center in Aurora Blvd., Quezon City since 1992. Dr. de Castro is a Fellow of the Philippine Obstetrics and Gynecological Society and the Philippine Society of Ultrasound in OB-GYN,. She is also a Life Member of the Philippine Medical Association, Olongapo City Chapter.

Dra. de Castro obtained both her Bachelor of Science in Pre-Medicine in 1976 and Doctor of Medicine Degree in 1980 from the University of the Philippines. She finished her Medical Internship at the UP-Philippine General Hospital from may 1980 to April 1981 and completed her Residency Training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Dr. Jose Fabella Memorial Hospital in 1992. She passed the following certifying exams; Philippine Society of Ultrasound in OB-GYN (PSUOG) Fellowship Examination Part 1 and 2 in 1997 and 1998; and the Philippine Physicians' Licensure Examination in June 1981.

Lim, Cesar V., R.N. , M.D. , FPARM -

Filipino, is a Founder of BHMC. He is affiliated with the following hospitals: Physiatrist-Director of the Olongapo Physical Medicine, Rehabilitation & Chest Clinic, Olongapo City; Consultant at the James L. Gordon Memorial Hospital Dept. of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation and Fee-Basis Physician at the U.S. Dept. of Veterans Affairs. He is also Visiting Consultant at the following hospitals in Olongapo City; Afable Medical Center, Mother & Child Hospital and St. Jude Family Hospital.

Dr. Lim finished his Bachelor of Science at the University of the East in 1980 and Bachelor of Science in Nursing at the Dr. Gloria D. Lacson College of Nursing in 2004. He earned his Doctor of Medicine at the UERMMC in 1984 and completed 39 units in Master of Arts in Education, Major in Educational Administration at the Columban College in Olongapo City. Dr. Lim finished his Medical Internship t the UERMMC / PJGMRMC in April 1985 and his Rural Health Practice Program at the Fort Magsaysay Hospital in December 1985. He then completed his pre-Residency Orthopedic Center from 1987 to 1990. He was also Reserve Force at the AFP (in the grade of Captain) Medical Corps in May 1987.

Manuel, Jesse Jewel E., M.D., FPOA -

Filipino , is a Founder of BHMC. He is currently an active Consultant of James L. Gordon Memorial Hospital, Total Life Medical Center, Subic Bay Medical Center and Subic Dispensary-SBMA. He is also affiliated with the St. Jude Medical Clinic and Mother & Child Hospital. He is currently the Auditor of the Philippine Orthopedic Association , Northern Luzon Chapter.

Prior to earning his degree un Doctor of Medicine from the Far Eastern University in 1991, Dr. Manuel finished his Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology from the same university. He also completed his post-graduate internship from the Veterans Memorial Medical Center in 1992. He finished his residency training in Orthopedic Surgery and Traumatology in 1998 at the Philippine Orthopedic Center and his sub-specialty training in Hip and Knee Reconstructive Surgery in 2004 at the Pilau Pinang General Hospital in Penang, Malaysia. Dr. Manuel was also active in civic organizations such as: Association of Residency of the Philippines where he was its Vice President in 1997, Executive Vice President of the Olongapo Jaycees Incorporated in 1998, and Worshipful Master of the Free and Accepted Masons of the Philippines.

Abellera-Bongco, Ma. Jesusa O.,M.D., DPBA -

Filiipino, born in 1971, Dr. Jesusa O. Abellera-Bongco is one of the Founders of BHMC. She has a clinic at 2242 Rizal Avenue East Bajac Bajac, Olongapo City. She has been affiliated with the following organization for the past several years: Philippine Society of Anesthesiologist ; Philippine Medical Association; University of Santo Tomas Medical Alumni Association and Medical Mission Incorporated.

Dra. Abellera-Bongco finished her Pre-medical & medical education both at the University of Santo Tomas. She also took her post-graduate internship up to residency in Anesthesiologist in the same University. She earned her Diplomate from the Philippine Board of Anesthesiologist in 2004. She also has wrote and presented various scientific research papers in her field and for which she has won many awards.

Arkoncel, Arturo Martin III P., M.D., FPNA -

Filiipino, Dr. Arkoncel is one of the Founders of BHMC. He is currently a Life Member of the Philippine Medical Association and an active member of the Bataan Medical Society. He graduated with a degree in Doctor of Medicine in 1977 from the Far Eastern University-NRMF and finished Post Graduate Medical Internship from JRRMCC in 1988. He completed his residency in Neurology from 1999 to 2002 at the Dept. of Neuroscience of the Makati Medical Center. He also went through a 3 month rotation in Neuropathology at the Neuropathology Section of the Dept. of Pathology of the Columbia Presbyterian Hospital of New York, USA from October to December 2002, a year of observership in Neurocritical care at the Neuro ICU also at the Columbia Presbyterian Hospital under Dr. Stephan Mayer from Jan. to Sept. 2003 and a Hands on training for six months in Transcranial Doppler Ultrasound at the Vascular Laboratory of Stroke Unit of Institute of Neurology of Columbia Presbyterian Hospital NY from Oct. 2002 to March 2003. Dr. Arkoncel is an accredited Fellow of the Philippine Neurological Association since 2004.

Bongco, Josefina R., M.D. -

Filiipino, born in 1970, Dr. Josefina R. Bongco is one of the Founders of BHMC. She is an Active Consultant at the St. James L. Gordon Memorial Hospital, Olongapo City and Visiting Consultant at the St. Jude Hospital and at the Mother & Child Hospital, also in Olongapo City. She is also a member of the following organizations: Fellow, Philippine Obstetrical and Gynecological Society; Member, POGS- Central Luzon Chapter; Member, Philippine Medical Association - Olongapo City Chapter; and Member, University of Santo Tomas Medical Alumni Association.

Dra. Bongco finished her Bachelor of Science of Microbiology at the University of Santo Tomas in 1990 and her Doctor of Medicine in 1994 also from UST. She completed her Post Graduate Training as follows: Post Graduate Rotating Internship at the UST Hospital, 1994-1995; Chief Resident, Residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the East Avenue Medical Center from Jan. 1997 - Dec. 2000. She also passed the following certifying exams: Diplomate Exam in Obstetrics and Gynecology (Part 2); Diplomate Exam in Obstetrics and Gynecology (Part 1); and Physicians' Licensing Exam.

Alconga, Rudy B. Jr., M.D. -

Filiipino, born in 1964 is a Founder of BHMC. He has a clinic at 7-A 20th St., East Bajac, Bajac, Olongapo City. He is also currently a Consultant at the Pediatric Clinic Missionaries of Charity, also at the Department of Pediatrics of the St. James L. Gordon Memorial Hospital, of St. Jude Medical Center and of Mother & Child Hospital in Olongaop City.

Dr. Alconga completed his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Santo Tomas in 1988 and his Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology from the same University in 1980. He completed his Pediatric Residency at the UST Hospital from 1993 - 1995 and at the 13th Airforce Medical Center, Clark Air Base, Philippines from 1990-1991. He likewise completed Preceptorship in Neonatology, Hutzel Hospital and Children's Hospital of Michigan, Detroit Medical Center, Detroit Michigan USA in 1998. He has acquired his licenses from the Philippine Pediatric Society Specialty Exam (1998), Philippine Physician Licensure Exam (1989) and Philippine Medical Technology Board Exam (1989). He is a Diplomate of the Philippine Pediatric Society and Life Member of the Philippine Medical Association, Olongapo City Chapter. He is also a member of the Tau Mu Sigma Phi, a Thomasian Medical Student Fraternity.

De Castro, Felicisimo D., M.D. -

Filiipino, born in 1954 is a Founder and Member of the Board of Directors of BHMC. He is also its current Corporate Treasurer. His active affiliations are as follows: Consultant in Ophthalmology at the Eye Referral Center / Glaucoma Research Center Foundation / Summit Refractive Surgery Center, Consultant in Ophthalmology / Conductive Keratoplasty at the Quezon City Eye Center and Private Practice in Ophthalmology at the Olongapo Eye Clinic.

Dr. de Castro finished both his Pre-medicine and Doctor of Medicine at the University of the Philippines. He passed the Philippine Board of Ophthalmology Diplomate Examination in 1987. He underwent trainings and practiced his profession in various medical institutions as follows: Chief of Clinics and Head Department of Ophthalmology, Subic bay Medical Center; residency training in Ophthalmology at UP-PGH, Training Course in Excimer (VisX) Laser Treatment (Photorefractive Keratectomy) at the American Eye Center, Medical City; Training Course on the Use of Lasers in the Ophthalmology at the Eye Referral Center, Manila; and Training on the use of Argon Laser in Panretinal Photocoagulation and Iridotomy Orbis (Flying Eye Hospital).

Guevara, Luis L., M.D. -

Filiipino, born in 1967, one of the Founders of BHMC. He is presently affiliated with the following medical institutions: Radiology Department of the James L. Gordon Memorial Hospital, Olongapo City; Division of Radiology Sciences.

Dr. Guevarra completed his B.S. Medical Technology in 1987 and Doctor of Medicine in 1991 both at the University of Santo Tomas. He finished his internship at the Polymedic General Hospital in 1992, was a resident at the Diagnostic Radiology at the UST Hospital from 1997 - 2000 and he passed the CT-MRI Specialty Training also at UST Hospital in 2001. He is also a member of the UST Alumni Association and UST Hospital Residents band as a lead guitarist.

Pulmano-Lim, Maria Leah G., M.D. FPCP -

Filiipino, born in 1967, one of the Founders and a Member of the Board of Directors. She is also its Hospital Administrator. She finished her Doctor of Medicine and Pre-medicine from the University of Santo Tomas in 1991 and 1987 respectively. She completed her Internship and Internal Medicine Residency at the UST Hospital from 1991-1995 and her Fellowship in Pulmonary & Critical Care at the Lung Institute of the UST Hospital from 1996-1997 where she was also a Chief Fellow in 1997.

Dra. Pulmano-Lim served as Resident-in-Charge of the Clinical Clerkship Program of the Division of Medicine of UST Hospital from 1993 - 1995. She was also Secretary of the Olongapo Medical Society from June 1998-- May 1999. She was a Facilitator of the Santo Tomas Obstructive Airways Program, Asthma Clinic from 1996-1997. She also served as Training Officer of the Post Graduate Internship Program of the James L. Gordon Memorial Hospital.

Santos, Wilfredo P., M.D. -

Filiipino, born in 1964 is a Founder of BHMC. He is presently affiliated with James Gordon Memorial Medical Center in Olongapo City in various capacities as follows: Active Consultant; Assistant Training Officer Dept. of Surgery; Member of Infection Control Committee and Board of Directors - Medical Staff Organization. He is also a member of various organizations as follows: Diplomate, Philippine Board of Surgery; Fellow, Philippine College of Physicians Fellow, Philippine Society of General Surgeons.

Dr. Santos was formerly a Director of the Philippine College of Surgeons Central Luzon Chapter in 2002. He was also a Trustee of the Philippine Society of General Surgeons Central and North Eastern Luzon Chapter in 2002 and Secretary / Treasurer - Dept. of Surgery of the James Gordon Medical Center in June 2006. He earned his B.S. Biology Degree from the University of the Philippines - Baguio in 1985 and finished his Medicine Proper from FEU - Dr. Nicanor Reyes Memorial Foundation in 1989. He completed his Internship at the Veterans Memorial Medical Center in 1990 and his residency Training in General Surgery at the Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital from 1993 to 1997 where he was Chief Resident from Jan. to Dec. 1998.
